We're creating an infrastructure for free GIS and free Geographic data for everyone and anyone to use. We have rack space in a datacenter in Seattle, along with 450 mbps of free bandwidth for our use. The FEF is going to become the cornerstone of the free geo-data revolution, and as Patrick Hogan (NASA Learning Technologies) always says; "Bring the world, to the world".
We want to get you High resolution imagery from all over the world. To do that, we need more processing power, and to do that, we need to raise money to build our processing cluster - and our web serving cluster.
The Free Earth Foundation is the formal group behind the websites which form the heart of the NASA World Wind community - World Wind Central and World Wind Data. These provide many services including serving up processed imagery, documentation, user-uploaded hotspots from World Wind, and much more.
There is more information at the World Wind forums, here and here.
How can you donate? Easy! If you have a Paypal account or a credit or debit card you can visit the World Wind Central donations page and donate in seconds!
If you'd like to help out in other ways, for example helping with development or lending server processing capacity and so on, please get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.
Lastly, a huge thank you to all our supporters. Without you, so much GIS data would be locked away and so many tens of thousands of people across the world wouldn't be having the fun they are today. Thank you!
